Sri Lanka’s magical South part 2: city
Between Colombo (where international flights land) and our retreat in Talalla lies the atmospheric and beautiful old port city of Galle.
In this UNESCO World Heritage Site you can enjoy cobblestone streets, art galleries, quirky boutiques, flea markets, relaxed cafes, museums, ancient mosques and churches, and some of the country’s best-preserved colonial architecture.
Galle Fort is the walled town within the city that has stood since the early 16th Century, through the colonial invasion and rule of the Portuguese, Dutch and British. So you can take a step back in time to Sri Lanka’s past whilst enjoying a hip, bohemian city that is anything but stuck in the past.
We have two upcoming retreats to Southern Sri Lanka: Sunday 11th - 18th November 2018 with Jim Tarran and Khadine Morcom and Tuesday 2nd - 9th April 2019 with Jonelle Lewis.
