Salema Veliu

Salema teaches Jivamukti Yoga internationally and became a certified Jivamukti Yoga teacher in 2009 in New York at the feet of the founders Sharon Gannon and David Life, mentored by Jules Febre.

Based in London she has studied, assisted and co-taught alongside many of the Advanced Jivamukti teachers in both London and New York, including Durga Devi. Becoming a regular returning guest teacher at BYOGA and One Yoga Basel, Salema has been on the Training Faculty for Power Yoga London for 3 years. She is a Yoga Alliance Senior teacher (SYT) with 800 hours mentoring teachers.

Her love of sharing the difference that yoga can make fuels her passion and commitment to transmitting these teachings in a very real, heartfelt way; encouraging students to unlock their true potential.

Teaching and assisting events, retreats, workshops and classes since 2004, her path started as a Karuna Yoga Teacher with an interest in unraveling the mind and the body to flow as one. Underlining the importance of anatomy, alignment and fluidity in her classes led her to study with Gary Carter (Natural Bodies- Scaravelli), Tim Goullet (Tri Yoga), Doug Keller (Yoga Therapy), Shiva Rea (Yoga Trance Dance), and Frank Mauro (Om Yoga).

Salema is well known for her passion for yoga, movement and music, which is reflected in her playlists and the musicians & DJ’s she brings into her classes. The belief that music promotes presence has become a corner-stone of her teaching. Whether dissecting pre-asana chants to reveal their deeper meaning or demonstrating poses, her classes are packed with a lot of love and humour.

Constantly evolving as a student and teacher, she has been unraveling the Mind and its patterns. Studying Life Coaching & Yoga with Elena Brower (Anusara) and The Handel Group in New York for the last 8 months where she continues to study and grow under Elena’s guidance in the philosophy of Life, is adding another dimension to her teachings and practice.
