Cultivating strength, coming home to the body: yoga retreat with Matt Gill


A proper holiday with sun loungers by the pool, leisurely meals al fresco and trips to the souks, but also a true retreat. Under Matt's guidance you'll develop strength, mobility and mindfulness whilst still having plenty of time to explore. Classes will be held twice a day, morning and late afternoon on the fabulous rooftop shala bathed in birdsong with spectacular views of the Atlas mountains. There is plenty of time to relax and explore between classes and there are no classes on Wednesday afternoon to give you an opportunity to explore further afield, or just to make maximum use of the spa and swimming pools!

Matt’s teaching is mindful, considered and clear. He is a truly exceptional teacher with a manner that is supportive calm and encouraging. Morning classes will be stronger and more dynamic sessions but will also include some basic breath awareness and pranayama exercises. Afternoon classes will be gentler with a focus on mindful movement, meditation and relaxation. Matt's teaching is suitable for all levels, from beginners through to advanced.

17th October:

Arrival day. We leave the day free for you to arrive at leisure. The first group meal will be dinner at 8pm on the 17th. This will be the first time we will meet as a group, although you may meet fellow yogis by the pool beforehand. You can check into your room from 2pm, though if you arrive earlier we will do our best to accommodate you, and you are welcome to enjoy all the facilities from whenever you arrive.  

Over dinner, Matt will introduce himself and chat with you about the week ahead. This is also an opportunity to discuss any injuries or personal issues with him, (there is also a chance to let us know any concerns or injuries in advance on the booking form we will send you).

Typical day:

  • 7:30 - 8 am: Help yourself tea and coffee

  • 8 am - 10 am: Yoga

  • 10 am: Breakfast

  • 1 pm: Lunch

  • 5pm - 6:30: Yoga

  • 8 pm: Dinner

24th October:

Departure day. Check out from your room is by midday but we will do our best to accommodate a later check out where possible. Lunch is served as usual at 1pm for those who are leaving later, and you are welcome to continue using the facilities until whatever time you leave.
