On this trip, we have the extra special treat of having not one, but two leading yoga instructors to lead you through the week. With twice daily yoga on the open air pavilion taking full advantage of the fresh ocean breezes on one of the best beaches in Sri Lanka, the scene is set for a fabulous retreat. Tropical palms, white sands and the Indian Ocean await!
Jim and Khadine will teach alternate classes with each assisting the other, allowing for personal attention to everyone. They follow a classical style of yoga and classes will focus on asana (postures) alongside meditation, pranayama (breathing practices), and deep relaxation. Their classes are warm and friendly with lots of laughs along the way, and both teachers are extremely adept at working with all levels of experience, from complete beginners through to advanced yogis.
There will be two yoga classes each day except for the 14th when there will be a day off for those who want to explore further afield, perhaps you'd like to do a day safari at Yala national park or go whale-watching? There are world-class whale-watching opportunities only 40 minutes along the coast from where we will be and we will be there in peak whale-watching season.
There is plenty of time between classes to relax, explore the beach, visit a local Buddhist temple or even learn to surf. One-to-one surf lessons are available at $50 USD for an hour and a half.

Arrival day. We leave the day free for you to arrive at leisure. The first group meal will be dinner at 7:30pm on the 11th. This will be the first time we will meet as a group, although you may meet fellow yogis by the pool beforehand. You can check into your room from 2pm, though if you arrive earlier we will do our best to accommodate you, and you are welcome to enjoy all facilities from whenever you arrive.
Over dinner Jim and Khadine will introduce themselves and talk to you about the week ahead. This is also an opportunity to discuss any injuries or personal issues with them if you’d like to, (there is also a chance to let us know any concerns or injuries in advance on the booking form we will send you).
- 7:30 - 8am: Help yourself tea and coffee
- 8am - 10am: Yoga
- 10am: Breakfast
- 1pm: Lunch
- 5pm - 6:30: Yoga
- 7:30pm: Dinner
Departure day. Check out from your room is at midday, though you are welcome to leave your bags at reception and keep enjoying the resort until you leave. If you’d like a later check out let us know and we can see what is possible. Lunch is served as usual at 1pm for those who are leaving later, and you are welcome to continue using the facilities until whatever time you depart.
